Freelance Writers Den Staff

Here are a bunch of the truly awesome people who help to keep the Den running smoothly. When Carol is not around, they are here to help you get the answers you need.

The Editor

Evan Jensen

Evan JensenIf you’d like to know if your pitch letter is any good, Evan Jensen is the one who’s going to help you make it sing. Evan spent time in the trenches as a newspaper editor and reporter for nearly a decade. He recently quit his own health-copywriting day job and dove into full-time work as a freelance writer, specializing in health, fitness, nutrition, chronic disease, and preventive medicine. Find him at The Healthy Copywriter. When he’s not writing or chasing his kids around, he’s out running and training for another 100-mile ultramarathon in the Pacific Northwest.

The Creative Director

Keira Dooley

Keira DooleyWhen something goes wrong and we can’t log in, or the forums go wonky, or we want a new feature added to the Den, I am extremely grateful to have a pro Webmaster who knows how to do it (who’s got backup from her own great team at Dooley Design Group). Keira and I met when we both lived on an island near Seattle — we’ve both since moved on, but still get to hang out sometimes, like on a girlfriend trip to Playa Del Carmen and my recent team retreat here in Seattle. Keira also created the only writer website hosting/template/support solution I recommend (and affiliate sell!), FolioSetup.

The Moderator-in-Chief

Angie Mansfield

Angie MansfieldAngie Mansfield has been a professional wordslinger since 2008, when she got her first article published. With a little luck and a lot of research and elbow grease, she managed to claw her way out of writing for the content mills to start working for real clients. She now writes case studies, white papers, and other marketing materials for business-to-business clients, all from her secret lair somewhere in the Midwest. She’s also the Den’s resident moderator wrangler, writer-website reviewer, and finder of lost resources.

The Troubleshooter

Jennifer Roland

Jennifer Roland is the coordinator of our 7-day-a-week help desk, reachable at [email protected], as well as event booker, email marketing lead, Facebook ad pro, and general miracle-worker. Get in touch with her at the help desk if you’ve got Den meeting ideas, need help accessing something on the site, or aren’t receiving your Den emails.

Jen has been a staff writer and freelance writer for more than 20 years. She focuses on personal finance, financial institutions and fintech, educational technology, and human resources and other business technologies.

The Job Board Manager

Millie Lapidario

Millie Lapidario

If you’re looking for writing opportunities, our Junk-Free Job Board is the place to go every Monday and Thursday afternoon. Millie sorts through tons of listings to filter out the well-paying jobs. Her motto: No cheapskates, crazies or nightmare clients allowed. 🙂 When she’s not scouring the Internet for the best writing opportunities, she’s helping tech companies tell their stories through case studies, white papers and ebooks. Her mission is to banish boring content from the B2B world.

Lead Moderators

AMY HARDISON WHITE

Amy Hardison WhiteLead moderator and Den 2X Income Accelerator grad Amy Hardison is an Austin-based freelance B2B copywriter focusing on the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Fintech industries. She writes for clients like NetSuite, Scalefactor, PayStand, VitusVet, and New Knowledge. She enjoys using her freelance writing experience to steer Den members in the right direction, and she’s a contributor to the Make a Living Writing blog.

MANDY ELLIS

Mandy EllisMandy Ellis delivers rocking advice on the Den forums, and is another high-earning Den 2X Income Accelerator grad and longtime Den member. She helps Den members improve their websites, handle issues with writing for magazines and businesses, and build confidence. “I’m psyched to help Den members charge what they’re worth, say no to crappy clients, and create freelance businesses that pay their bills,” she says. In addition to her Den moderator duties, she’s a writer mentor at the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA)

In her own writing career, she’s an Austin-based freelance writer who’s created food, real estate, travel, and health articles and content for clients like Costco, eBay, AFAR, the National Association of REALTORS, U.S. News & World Report, Austin Monthly, FSR, QSR, and Make a Living Writing.
